The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has surged past the majority mark in Keralam, with Election Commission (ECI) data showing the alliance leading in 89 seats, indicating a decisive shift in the state’s political landscape.
According to the latest trends, the Congress is ahead in 58 seats, while its ally, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), is leading in 21. The Left Democratic Front (LDF), led by the CPI(M), is trailing with 51 leads, suggesting a strong advantage for the UDF as counting progresses.

Reacting to the numbers, Congress MP K. Suresh said the alliance’s performance was in line with its pre-poll expectations. He asserted that the UDF is on course to cross the 100-seat mark, citing a strong anti-incumbency wave against the state government.
State Congress president Sunny Joseph attributed the LDF’s performance to “anti-people policies,” while declining to comment on a potential chief ministerial face, saying the decision would be taken later.
Congress MP Jebi Mather called the trends a “decisive victory,” noting that the alliance has already exceeded exit poll projections. She said the results reflected public dissatisfaction with the LDF government and expressed gratitude to voters across Keralam.
With counting still underway, the UDF’s strong lead marks a significant moment in Keralam politics, as the alliance looks poised to form the next government if current trends hold.
